Arrival in Delhi: Saturday the 21st of November

After a stop in Helsinki we flew during the night to Delhi. A pre booked bus took us to the Hotel De Holiday Inn in Pahar Ganj near New Delhi Station. Not so fashionable as it sounds though as it is not THE Holiday Inn but DE Holiday Inn.

After a short refreshing hour at our rooms we plunged into the dynamic life of Delhi.

First to Palika Bazaar and the state emporium for those who wanted to buy something, then with autoriksha to Birla Mandir: the Lakshmi Narayan temple. It was built in 1938 based on Gandhi's principle of a temple for everybody, even the harijans (low caste, Dalits). It thus fitting that Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity, is worshipped in the temple.
